I love herbs and spices. And so I went about collecting and planting them. At that time (too long ago for me to remember exactly when), I only had garlic and onion chives, lemon balm, some mints and a few other common tropical varieties.
Then a forumer from my Gardenweb days came on the scene and encouraged me by passing me some herbs I did not have. She got me my first bay plant, some corsican mint, pineapple sage, helichrysum italicum … “The helicrysum smells like Twisties when you rub the leaves,” she said. And she was right too. Her enthusiasm is so contagious that it clings till today.
My collection of herbs and spices have grown since then. I have herbs that add flavour to food, herbs that smell heavenly, herbs that heal and herbs that just appeal. Some of the herbs I treasure so much that I actually loathe to use them! The herbs and spices in the garden today are partly due to contributions from family, friends and forum members (you know who you are). Thanks again, everyone.
